The
Director of Music is always pleased to meet prospective
members of the choir to discuss what is involved in singing with
the Choirs of All Saints.
The Director of Music is currently recruiting new probationers
to begin in September 2012. There are 3-4 places available for
bright, sparky boys in school years 2-5, and a number of places
available for bubbly girls in Year 5 and above, although some
years are currently full and a waiting list is in operation. All
Saints Choristerships are offered to the most gifted and
talented children from across the county,
regardless of family, financial or religious background. No
previous musical experience is required, but they do need to
be ready to commit to a demanding but deeply rewarding
schedule.

Being a
chorister at All Saints means...
|
-
Singing in the
stunning building of All Saints, the civic church of
Northampton where many of the important occasions take
place; the choirs frequently sing to hundreds of people,
including television stars, politicians, international rugby
players, and even Prince Charles!
-
The chance for
the most gifted and talented children in the county to sing
as cathedral choristers without being tied to any one
school.
-
Receiving a
first-class training in singing and choral music from our
staff of professional musicians.
-
Amazing
performance opportunities: our choristers have recently sung
in some of Britain’s most iconic buildings, including St.
Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, King’s College,
Cambridge, and at many of the great cathedrals across the
country. They frequently perform with orchestras, including
the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
-
The chance to
undertake regular foreign tours: recently including France,
Ireland, Poland, North America and Canada. Future tours are
planned to Europe, and also to Japan and South Africa.
-
Recording: since
2010 we have released three CDs on our own label, with more
in preparation.
-
TV and Radio:
The choir has featured on both BBC and ITV, and frequently
broadcasts on local and national radio, and even abroad.
-
Making friends
and having fun: all our choristers are drawn from local
schools across Northampton. Apart from singing, the
choristers regularly enjoy doing other activities, such as
trips to the cinema, bowling and theme parks, and playing
football matches against other choirs.
-
Developing
crucial life-skills, such as self-discipline, initiative,
team-work and an expectation of high standards.
