David Arcus begins
as Interim Director of Music!
5th May

We are very
pleased to welcome to our team this week Dr David Arcus,
who has flown all the way from the USA - where he has
lived and worked at Duke University from 1984 until
January of 2014 - to be our Interim Director of Music
for this Trinity Term!
During his time at Duke University, Dr Arcus served as
Director of Music of Duke Divinity School, as well as
Chapel Organist and Associate University Organist. He
has recently been appointed Parish Musician of St
Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Hillsborough, North
Carolina. |
 |
I am honored to
be welcomed by the All Saints Parish community, and am
delighted to have an opportunity to serve as Interim
Music Director for All Saints' outstanding music
programme. Particularly because now is a time of
transition for the programme's leadership, the
enthusiastic devotion and high standards already set by
Mr. Dunleavy and the choristers are essential to the
Parish and the broader community. I look forward to
these next 10 weeks. |

Dr Arcus holds degrees
from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music
and the School of Music at Yale
University, where he earned his Doctor
of Musical Arts degree. He has received
awards in composition and improvisation
competitions, and he is in demand as a
solo recitalist, having performed
throughout the United States, Europe,
and Great Britain. Dr. Arcus' recitals
have included premieres of new works by
well-known composers such as Aaron Jay
Kernis, Dan Locklair, and Marianne
Ploger. He is frequently commissioned to
write new works for organ and choir, and
he is also active as clinician,
teacher/lecturer, and conductor. We will
be privileged to hear him play our John
Clare Composition Competition winning
piece at its world premiere here at All
Saints on May 18th! |
