Simon Godfrey is the Rector of All Saints' Church and has been the Vicar since November 1989.
He is assisted by Alan Horsley (Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral and former Provost of Inverness), Frank Pickard (Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral), Paul Rose (Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral), Simon Tebbut (Honorary Assistant Priest) and our licensed reader Fred Norton esquire. The Church Wardens are David White and Jill Davidge.
The life of the church is essentially made up of the following organisations:
Bellringers: The Company of All Saints' Ringers ring on Sundays, feast-days and on all civic occasions,
..and they regularly ring full peals for special anniversaries. A new
ring of ten bells was installed in 2006, dedicated on All Saints' Day by the Bishop of Richborough.
The Choirs: The choirs comprise a boys' choir, a separate girls' choir, twelve choral scholars and six lay clerks. They are led by the
Director of Music, and accompanied by the two assistant organists. The choirs sing for the Eucharist and Evensong each Sunday and for Evensong on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at six o'clock. They also carry out a busy programme of concerts and tours, more details of which can be found in the
Music Department.
The Congregations: There are three specific groups of worshippers at All Saints. There is the Weekday Congregation who attend the daily lunchtime Eucharist. Then there is the Sunday congregation who attend the 8.00am, 10.30am and 6.30pm services. Finally the Civic Congregation, who attend annual & anniversary services important to the town and county.
Furthermore, there are the organisations associated with All Saints:
All Saints Primary School: The Parochial School was resited in the 1970s, but the links between the parish and the school are maintained by foundation governors, and the Beckett & Sargent foundation.
The Beckett & Sargent Educational Foundation: Conscious of the need for educational grant aiding, the B & S charity, founded in the Parish, gives grants to young people in all fields of education.
The Parochial Church Council (P.C.C.): The P.C.C is part of the Church of England's synodical government, operating by statute. The Parochial Church Council is elected on an annual basis by those on the Electoral Roll of the Church. The P.C.C consists of the Rector as Chairman, two ex officio members who are the Church Wardens, and twelve elected members. This elected number includes Church Officers and Deputy Church Wardens as well as Deanery and Diocesan Synod Members.
